Nirmala Sitharaman has become the Finance Minister of India again in Narendra Modi’s third term as Prime Minister. Born on August 18, 1959, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, she has a strong academic background in economics, with a Bachelor’s degree from Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College in Tiruchirappalli and a Master’s degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
Sitharaman started her political career by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2006.
